Ringwood Secondary College from Ringwood has been selected as a finalist in the 2019 ResourceSmart School Awards.

Member for Eastern Metropolitan Region Shaun Leane said local school, Ringwood Secondary College, are actively reducing their environmental footprint and sharing these learnings beyond the school gate.

The ResourceSmart Schools Awards are Victoria’s largest sustainability awards program and are open to all Victorian government, independent and Catholic schools.

The Awards recognise schools across the state who are leading the way in minimising waste, saving energy and water, increasing biodiversity and tackling climate change.

“I’m very proud to congratulate the students, teachers and parents of Ringwood Secondary College,” Shuan Leane MP said.

“The 2019 ResoureSmart Schools Awards theme is ‘contributing to a better place’ and Ringwood Secondary College are certainly doing their bit.”

Jaqui Godfrey, from Ringwood Secondary College has been named as a finalist for Teacher of the Year (secondary)

Ringwood Secondary College is also been named as a finialist for Student Action Team of the Year.

Also Curriculum Leadership School of the Year.

The 2019 Award categories are:

  • Teacher of the Year (Primary/ Secondary)
  • Community Leadership School of the Year (Primary/ Secondary)
  • Student Action Team of the Year (Primary/ Secondary)
  • Curriculum Leadership School of the Year (Primary/ Secondary)
  • Campus Infrastructure School of the Year

Winners for the categories will be announced at the awards ceremony on 13 June at the MCG in Melbourne.

 

ResourceSmart Schools is a free program offered by Sustainability Victoria that has engaged more than 1,300 schools across the state to collectively save over $24 million dollars and avoid creating more than 60,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases.
