New and expanded facilities for families and sporting clubs in Casey are on the way thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
Local Government Minister Shaun Leane has announced Casey City Council will receive $3.5 million towards three projects from the 2021 round of the Fund, which helps Melbourne’s rapidly developing interface and peri-urban councils deliver high-quality facilities for their communities.
The three funded projects include:
- $2 million to redevelop the Pearcedale Recreation Reserve pavilion as a multipurpose facility for Australian rules, netball and cricket, as well as community events.
- $917,000 to expand and upgrade the Littlecroft Family and Community Centre in Narre Warren South, creating more space for kindergarten, maternal child health services and other community programs.
- $610,000 to upgrade the Woodbine Children’s Centre, refurbishing two kindergarten rooms, maternal child health and community rooms.
The Growing Suburbs Fund has now invested more than $35.9 million towards 24 projects across Casey, including sports facilities in Cranbourne North and Clyde North that recently began construction.
Since its establishment in 2015, the Growing Suburbs Fund has facilitated $913.2 million in local infrastructure, created more than 8,880 jobs and supported 253 projects across Melbourne’s fastest-growing areas.
